The Emmerson - 1810 Third Avenue, NYC - New East Harlem Rentals
(post by Ardie) After more than three years and constant wondering, this luxury rental building is finally finished. Located in East Harlem, on 1810 Third Avenue between 100th and 101st Streets, this new construction, two-tower (10 and 12 stories) building squeezing a laundry mat stands out among its peers. I guess the owner of the laundry mat did not want to sell his lot to the developer - it’s awkwardly placed in between the two buildings of the Emmerson.
For a limited time, they are offering one month free rent on a 1-year lease and 2 months free rent on a 2-year yr lease. This building has high-end amenities, such as a 24-hr doorman, laundry room (despite the laundry mat), 800 sq ft gym, a private courtyard, rooftop deck & games lounge. The units range from 600 to over 1000 square feet (in 1, 2 and 3 bedroom) for a total of 76 apartments. Prices start at $2300/month.
Emmerson building is pet-friendly and only four blocks to Central Park!
This is a welcome and revitalizing site in East Harlem. Let’s hope more nice buildings like this one are developed in this up-and-coming area of uptown Manhattan, to further change the current landscape and environment.

You have to be out of your mind to want to spend close to 4k on a 3 bedroom apartment here. The nerve, when they’re right across the street from the projects! And if that isn’t good enough the building next to it is a half way house for recently released convicts! Not to mention this article actually has the nerve to say “Let’s hope more nice buildings like this one are developed in this up-and-coming area of uptown Manhattan, to further change the current landscape and environment.” Ugh! I hope no more apartments like this spring up in the neighborhood at all. And if you were crazy enough to rent here…good luck!

they are now asking 2200 for 1 bedrooms in old buildings on west side in the 100s, too. walk ups, man! walk ups in morningside heights for well over 2K!? when did this happen?

This building is hilarious… I’ve lived up the street for a few years, and although the neighborhood has changed SLIGHTLY, there is nothing that warrants these rents. I pay a full thousand LESS than the minimum, and that’s for a 2 bedroom!
For new tenents at the Emmerson: keep in mind:
1) that lot was the biggest rat fest I’ve ever seen before the building was built
2) the halfway house is the reason I never walk up 3rd past dark alone
3) there are still gunshots/fights at least once a week in the area (despite the police station down the block)

I don’t know why you are so negative about the neighborhood. The rents are high because the neighborhood is exploding and changing for the better. I have lived here for about 3 years and new restaurants are being formed every 3 months. I’m a female and I walk my dog late at night and I’ve never run into any problems. The only problem in this neighborhood , is that owners don’t pick up after their dog (alot of dog poop near the projects). When I lived on UES, I saw rats on the street too. Keep in mind, this is the city; you are bound to see rodents especially when we are living in close quarters to each other. There are a lot of young professionals living in this area. It will soon be hard to find rentals in the $2k range.
