Representing Tenant = Looking for a Space with a Compass

(post by BT) In today’s modern world, cultural beliefs are still being passed down from previous generations. Sometimes this stuff gets in the way of business. Even the most business-oriented minds allow superstitions affect the way they make even the most important financial decisions. I have an Indian customer searching for a warehouse space. Well-established in his business, he is looking to relocate operations from Manhattan to the outer boroughs. I showed him my own listings but they did not work for him. He is very serious so I know it’s going to be a quick deal!

Searched high and low, through hundreds of locations, in the comfort of my pajamas (thanks to the World Wide Web! – how did we ever do business before the Internet boggles my mind). Early AM I make an appointment. The space I finally find seems perfect for him… until he tells me there is one small problem… actually a very major problem. The property faced West! He needed the property to face North, Northeast, or East only! Looks like the Internet failed me. How the hell am I going to know which way the actual space in the building faces? The only fail-proof way getting off my butt, jumping into my car, driving down there, and using a compass! No quick deal here…
