Laboratory Institute of Merchandising (LIM) Opens Residence Hall in East Harlem (1760 Third Ave)
(Post by Guest) A new residence hall for the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising (LIM) just opened up in East Harlem on 1760 Third Ave at 97th Street. Some may say this area is Yorkville but it is actually considered East/Spanish Harlem or El Barrio (anything north of 96th St).
This renovated building used to be some kind of therapy / health care place (might have been the Florence Nightingale building) that probably sold itself exclusively to the school. This brings the neighborhood to a new level. It brings more business to the existing restaurants and stores. It brings more exposure to the Lower East Harlem (LEH) neighborhood. And, with the new 2nd Avenue subway (the long awaited & arduous project) it will one day even become convenient for everyone to get to.
Any school or school affiliations coming into the East/Spanish Harlem neighborhood is always a great investment for the current residents (as are the new high-end buildings like the Emerson). Look what Columbia did for the Upper West Side / Morningside Heights neighborhood!
I hope this trend continues well into the future!
