Good Weather Hunting - Old School Realtor-ing

(post by BT) Today the weather looks good. Days like this, my mother would run into the office and shout “Lets go get some listings!”, as if the nice weather would make people come out of their homes and say “Wow what a nice day, I think I want to sell my property today! Oh, hello Mr. Nice Realtor – would you like to sell my house?”

Let’s do it, Ma! LOL. What a perfect focus! And what, bad weather means we can’t get any business? But I always believed we create our reality, and AMAZINGLY, on days like this she would come back with a ton of listings…

Though of the day: How did these people manage without the Internet and cell phones?

  1. i can relate. my dad was a Realtor back in the 70s. everyone knew him in the neighborhood (we lived in Canarsie) and he had a way with people. remembered their names. i remember him loving to out get business on a nice day and he made it look easy. his job was to help people find best places to live or open business. in the late 80s i tried it… thought i was going to follow in his steps since he taught me so much. i got turned off quickly. the game changed. i went to the city and people there were snobs and back-stabbers. nobody talked about client’s interest. and at that time brooklyn and queens both fell. my old hood wasn’t even safe to walk at night.
